What are the trees called that have cotton ball looking blossoms?
What are the wonderful trees I see every spring they have white "Cotton ball" looking blossoms. I would love one in my yard.
As this is a fall/winter picture, it maybe a lilac bush with seed pods. If your plant is still dormant (no buds yet), remove only the seed pods at the stem's "knuckle", at this time. After it blooms in June you can trim off the spent flowers and prune if you wish.
Looks like crepe myrtal.
Hello P Gillies
I have a guess but it could be a Rose of Sharon Tree/shrub or a type of hibiscus. I have some and they look like this right now. They will bloom from Mid may thru Aug- Sept. They spread like crazy and can be trained into a tree or a full hedge.

Take a sample to a local nursery.
It looks like my Bactasia Bush. If those seed pods are black. Stalks of branches can be gently twisted and pulled out to allow new ones to sprout in early Spring ! ( very easy to do ). The 'new' bush will then have beautiful blooms in Late Spring. Enjoy !
Looks exactly like my lilac in winter.
Looks like the plant I just identified in my yard -- a crepe myrtle. It will have pretty flowers later.
Crepe myrtle. Do you live in or near the south?
