How do you clean an old wooden door?
I have a front door to my apartment that I think is over a 100 yrs old. It needs to be freshened up. Do you have any suggestions?
I've seen them cleaned using tongs and microfiber cloth. My adaptation of that was to put a tube sock over each tong (secure with rubber bands if they are too loose), and I have cleaned old blinds doing that. If you don't have any socks that would work (I usually have a few mismatched socks) you can buy a pair at the dollar store.
I just swifter mine, do the back and front by changing the tilt.
I use the vacuum to clean mine. I use the little brush attachment and vacuum both sides by opening them all the way and closing them all the way the other direction.
I clean mine the "old way". Get a bowl of hot slightly soapy water, soft cloth, dip the cloth into the mixture, wring out well, and go to work. Clean each blind by having the cloth cover each side of the blind and cleaning back and forth. Work from top to bottom and you will be amazed how how dirty the blinds are (even though they look fairly clean. Dip the cloth and do the next few slats.....it's time consuming but oh so worthwhile and well worth it to know your blinds are white glove clean.
