Hi Tam, I've converted grass to landscape area simply by covering it in cardboard and topping it with pine straw (our "mulch" of choice). The grass will die under the cardboard, and be great for plantings after about 6 months. Good luck!
Every 18" more or less, cut a line straight down deeply into the sod with a spade, parallel to the existing garden. At the end of the strip you created, start rolling the sod. You may need to help the roll get started with a garden fork. When the roll is getting too large to handle, cut across the sod, and start another roll. You will have a shallow ditch. Loosen the remaining soil in the ditch, leave for a day or two to dry out any stray roots, then fill with garden soil.
Thank you... I need to post some pics because it’s very bumpy ground 😞
I would use a chalk line to mark of where I want to have it stop. Use a spade to level the ground. Use a long board and a level to be sure it is level.
Thank you Mona
