What is it made of? Enamel, wood or metal-probably stainless steel? Do you have a photo? Without seeing it, I can only hazard a guess. Perhaps light sanding to get off any rust or old paint. Rustoleum sells a lot of very nice colors for both plastic, wood and metals. Much of the metal is probably stainless steel I assume, if it's still in good shape it can be polished. Inside, again if it is what I think it looks like, Fabric stores sell what I think it might be lined with, which is like a quilted plastic material, sorta like a plastic table cloth. I would carefully take off the old (if it needs replacing) and use it as a template for the new. As far as the bonnet, that could be tricky. But it too can probably be replaced with something from a fabric store. See if it can also be carefully removed to use as a template and also bring to the store to see if there is anything there that would work. Or maybe even an upholstery place. This sounds like an exciting project. I hope you can show pictures of it - before and after. Good luck.
