How to replace a glass top on outdoor table with wood?
My outdoor table needs a new top, and I'm interested in replacing glass with wood. Some of the treated lumber I've looked at is so heavy that I wouldn't be able to move the table. Any suggestions?

The table is 5 ft in diameter with a hole in the center.
Use Redwood.
Purchase good one side plywood or even use a plexi-glass which can be cut to the shape you desire. The plywood would have to be sealed and painted while the plexi glass requires no further maintenance other than washing. Auto glass shops should be able to cut the plexi for you.
Birch plywood would be the least expensive, then seal with exterior sealant. You can DIY treat any wood. There's also oak, maple, and other sanded plywood depending on the look you want.
I ran into the same problem with mine, when the glass shattered. We put plywood on it for a while, but, ended up replacing the table, because of the weight and I didn't like the wood look. I used the thinnest plywood available and ddn't fasten it down so I could remove it to move the table. Hope someone else has a better fix for you. By the way, I ended up getting a table that looks like wrought iron but is aluminum, so I didn't have the hassle of glass.
Also consider plexyglass. A glass store can cut that for you. Will not weather as wood does,.
