Hi Kay, here's a simple idea I found on google image search. With only four chickens a dog house would work just fine. Short t-posts are inexpensive and easy to put into the ground and then you can use chicken wire to make your fence. To REALLY predator proof it, burying the chicken wire around it like a mat will keep anything from digging into your coop.
here are videos you pick https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+city+chicken+coops they lay 1 egg a day will you use 4 eggs a day; they need cool in hot summer and warmth in cold winters or they won't lay, certain chickens do much better in certain parts of the country/world depending on weather conditions
High high did you build them off the ground? That is usually the issue. My son built some out of pallets but put them high enough that predators kept out.
I did was a waste of time I surroundedit with bricks raccoons dug under them. I lost several pretty bad
I have seen some built with pallets which look pretty good I may try them
I have never before raised chickens, and I have never built anything in my life, but I needed a chicken coop and I didn’t have the funds for a store bought one. A quick Google search brought me to Building a Chicken Coop by Bill Keene 🐔🏠.
Bill promised to simplify the process of building a chicken coop from scratch and provide all the information I would need to successfully keep my own chickens.
Most importantly Mr. Keene provides a 60 day money back guarantee, which made the purchase risk free. Either it was everything he promised or I got my money back.
He also includes lots of bonus material, I was really excited about bonus number four, a pdf file titled: The Cheapest Materials to Build Your Coop Out Of.
It all sounded ideal for my needs, and I ordered right away.
It was just what I needed, and it sounds like you do too!
Here's a link to his site. Good luck! It's not too hard once you know what to do :)
