How to keep a bird from our windows?
HOpe some gardeners here might be of help with this. For the past weekor so a bird keeps coming at every window in the house which faces east.Live in Camarillo Ca so have lots small birds as lost of trees here. He doesn't fly into the window, ie: reflection or mirror, but gently comes at screen and window. Open patio and covered patio he comes at all of them. Sits on backof chair by window and flutters around window. Is it possible that rain gutter has maybe his mate deceased there of next, We are seniors and can't climbladder to check it out. He does this all day long. Any suggestions??? as towhat might be his problem, OR is he a senior like we are and dementia. LOLthanks for any suggestions. We thought of nest with baby eggs but never hear babies cherping unless they haven't hatched yet.

The bird probably sees itself in the glass. Then thinks it is an enemy and is trying to protect it's nest. We purchased some small rubber snakes and put on the window ledge. We also put the rubber snakes on the hood of our car to keep the birds from pooping on it.
she,he,they(depends what kind of bird if both care for the eggs/baby chicks) has/have a nest nearby and are just protecting it. most birds eggs take around 14 -21 days to hatch and hearing any chirping another 2-3wks til feathered & flying.... those are averages since I/you don't know what kind it is....put something over windows to change reflection if you don't want her to do it any more. Maybe it is just flirting with it's reflection trying to make babies.
Even though he is not hitting the window, it sounds like he is still thinking he sees another bird in the windows. Reflective surfaces like aluminum foil should help and it will likely stop as soon as mating season is over.
Hi Penne. I believe your bird has a nest nearby. Birds are pretty smart. Move those snakes around a bit or the birds won't be afraid of them any more. I have a fake owl that I use in my garden. I move it around and it seems to work. You could also use pinwheels from Dollar Tree. Good luck Penne.
