I have screen patio doors that have to keep mosquitoes out and cats (with claws) in! Do have an suggestions to replace/cover the bottom screen portion to stop the cats from clawing at the screening?

Perhaps put a piece of aluminum up covering that part of the screen that they claw. Kind of like an artificial kick plate that some doors have. You could probably use just about anything, even plexiglass.

I would consider metal grid panels over your screen on the inside. The screen will be protected and still keeping bugs out of the house and the cats won't be able to get a the screen to claw it. You can find these grid panels at Home Depot in a few different patterns and colors. Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

  • While this isn't the greatest photo, they make screen guards that you can attach to your current door. Any hardware or home improvement center will have various sizes, styles and finishes to choose from.
