How can I hide wires to my tv, dvd player, router in my living room?
I have 2 five tier shelves beside of my fireplace and my tv is on the wall above the fireplace. The back of the shelves are open and the wires to the tv, router etc. all show. I want to somehow hide these, maybe put them behind the wall and update the fireplace?

You could hollow out a few books or get some decorative boxes and by drilling a hole in each shelf let the wires run through them from shelf to shelf. Another way to hide them would be to camouflage the cords with some kind of tall fake tree. Depending on how the shelf is made, you can make a long hollow vertical box out of molding or quarter round to lead up to the tv along the edge of the shelf. The part of the cord that would show you could always paint it the same color as your wall to make it disappear.
Cord covers! Sold everywhere and best selection I have found was at an office supply store. Most are paintable so you can make them disappear!
Put a back on your bookcase and run wires behind. Holds cut in back will let wires through to equipment. If bookcase is permanent, put a fake backing between shelves.
Use cord raceways. They mount on the wall and cords hide inside. Can be painted same color of wall.

We twist tied them to the back of the shelf uprights to hide them. Our shelf uprights are black so we used black twist ties. They are barely noticeable.
