I built and you can buy a doggie door unit that fits between door jamb and sliding door edge. That allows door to stay closed.
Here is mine. I have in 2 different sizes. Mine came from Home Depot as they were less expensive than big box chain pet stores for the same product. I couldn't live without it. Just be sure to close at night before bed so you don't get the creatures of the night creeping in.
