Try trimming down all the weeds with a weed wacker and spraying a roundup over the whole area. Keep trimming and spraying as you see the weeds come up regularly. I think this is easier and faster than removing from the root. I don't know if it is a permanent solution but at least with the weed wacker you don't have to look at ugly weeds constantly growing. weeding on your hands and knees is very time consuming.
Hi Nunu, Just mix up 1 gallon of white vinegar with 1 cup of table salt and a squirt of Dawn or other dish washing soap. Mix it well and add to either a garden sprayer or an ordinary spray bottle. Spray the weeds well (the dish soap helps the liquid to the weeds) and within a day or so the weeds will be crispy and you can rake them away. If you do this as you see new weeds coming up you can keep them under control. Where the mixture has been sprayed, you'll likely not have many of them sprouting. Just ensure that you don't spray plants that you want to keep. As any weed killer, this is not a permanent fix, you'll have to repeat, but at least you don't have to do the time-consuming pulling them out by hand. Hope this is helpful to you...it is vey inexpensive.
2 cups white vinegar
¼ cup salt
Squirt of dawn
Mix in a spray bottle. If you have a larger area, you can mix in a garden sprayer with larger quantities.
However, remember that even though you kill the weeds that are there now the elements will blow seed around and new ones will continue to grow.
Where are the weeds? Unless you use a salt mixture to render the ground infertile for any growth, or place concrete over the area, that will never happen. Nature doesn't work that way. Weeds are spread by wind, wildlife and people. Nature will always win. I am anti Round Up for more reasons than I can count. A vinegar solution will keep them at bay, and will need to be applied after every rain event. Can you share their location?
