Is it good or bad that part of my yard is covered with moss?

  • Those that have moss want to be rid of it. Those that can't have moss, (me), want it. Purely a matter of personal preference. Certainly low maintenance. If you like it, leave it!

Thanks and yes, it is low maintenance-it stays low and doesn't need to be mowed and I must say, I kind of like it

I love it, keep it. Wish I had it.

I hate moss in the grass and it will take over the lawn. Its cause of shade and poor drainage. I use Moss Out granules in a lawn spreader in the spring, cause moss is a way of life in the PNW. We even put it on our roofs and walks here. Moss out will cause it turn black in the grass, just rake out and your good for the summer. In the fall, you can have the landscaper use a thatcher to remove the dead grass and a aerator to punch holes to improve drainage. The grass will grow back thick and strong once the moss is dead.
