Paint it would look beautiful! :) My favorite furniture paints that require no sanding on Jolie, Annie Sloan, or Dixie Belle. :) All stick to wood great! I love white or a cream color over dark wood. :)
Here is a post on how to paint furniture without sanding. Also, When painting over a dark wood stain have Shellac ready! This will block any hidden bleed through from the stains!
