I use a dishwasher pod on stove top with a pot of boiling water takes care of it and if its stainless steel it will look brand new after you're done. Hope this helps.You can also use peroxide and baking soda as a paste and let sit for a day before trying to clean it.
I always use barkeepers friend. But here is another trick if it's too much and burned out then put some warm water and dawn in it. Water to just cover the surface. Then place a drying sheet over it. Let it sit for a 30 minutes. Wipe off. You would see a totally clean pots and pans. I have tried that over and over and it works like a magic.
