What can I do to make the lights and ceiling in this room look better?
We took out the partitioning that divided this room in two. The problem is that it now has two mismatched lights and a cracked seam running through the ceiling. We don’t want to redo the ceiling or wiring right now because we will be renovating in a year’s time or so.
What can we do in the interim to make the lights and ceiling look better?
We are prepared to get new light fixtures. The main light source in the room are these two lights. Also, we know how to fix the crack in the ceiling but don’t want to have the mess again, so we need a cosmetic solution.

Hi Thea. Nice room. You could use a small sander connected to a shop vac hose to smooth the crack with very minimal mess. Add some matching trim to the gaps, a fresh coat of paint, and a matching pair of lights, should hold you over for another year. 😊
This is a really cool looking room. I think you should definitely do something with the lights though... You could replace the Tiffany style fixture with a chandelier similar to the other one and spray paint them both the same color. I think a fun pop of color would look great. Or you could find more modern hanging fixtures and replace them both.
Spray paint lights to a bronze or copper for the metal parts only, then put up that cheap faux boards 1” thick by 4 or whatever works best over the crack area using nailer and caulk

even a draped scarf affect like an Arabian nights tea room on the ceiling
i Would cover the seam with thin wood (painted white) to make the ceiling look like it is framed. Check your habitat restore or charity shop for another similar chandelier and replace the Tiffany style light. I have found my dining room chandelier at the restore. You should have good luck and you can drop off the other one at the same time 😊. You could spray paint them with color if you had time.
nice room. For me, there is too much white. Maybe paint the dresser. and get two matching pendant lights - they're not too expensive at Home Depot. Good luck!
I’d paint the light fixture pewter and add some bling. Maybe hang crystal (I’d use the glass they sell on Amazon). Then I’d make a three sided box make with 1x4s to cover the tiny trim. Stain it gray. Would really blend well with your room. Have fun!
For the cracked seam in the ceiling, can you nail a piece of 2 x 1 over it and paint it white? As for the lamps....two of the same would look good...either the chandi or the pendent.
Hi Thea, how about a faux roof beam, it will brake the two fixtures apart a bit too!
