Hi Darla,
My parents dog got into a rabbits nest a few years ago and had a go with some fleas. They had a very minimal amount, so this method worked. For a large infestation, I would call a professional to come out and help you with the problem.
Anyway, they used several desk lamps and a plate with dish soap and water. Their vet was treating the dog (though I am not sure with what) and I know my mother was doing a lot of extra laundry.
Hope this helps. Lauren - The Little Lake Cottage
Oh my goodness! I had the worst flea problem. I had to have a professional exterminator come in more than once. The first thing to do is to treat the pets and the yard. You will need a product that kills all the stages of fleas. You will need to vacuum daily, and treat all areas with some kind of spray. Good luck!
Launder all the dog's bedding, blankets and coats. Bathe the dog and check collars. Spray areas where the dog goes . About 10 days later you must spray again to kill the eggs that hatched and then again in about another 10 days.
I had a terrible problem last year and was able to combat it without paying an exterminator. I used flea traps, one for each room, that I bought online. Also, I bought online an Noresco flea collar, which is expensive but the most effective flea collar you can buy. And of coarse, vacuum vacuum vacuum. I will checkout what brand of flea trap and get back to you.
Hi I’m back. The name of the flea trap is Victor. You can buy both traps and flea collar online from Amazon. Good luck.
Back in the mid-80's our home was overrun with fleas. The only way we ended the problem was by putting our dog on the, brand new at the time, flea treatment where you put drops on their neck (they have chews that work for 3 months now!). However, it took about 9 months to finally rid our home of them due to their continual lifecycle. (I had a toddler and did not want chemicals on my floor, furniture, etc.). The vet said it would take awhile but, it was worth it, as we have been flea free ever since! Now my dog and any new dog we rescue gets Bravecto before they enter our home for the first time. Once every 3 months is soooo nice. A bit pricey but worth every penny.
I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE “ Program” an injection for pets, that lasts 6 months! It doesn’t kill fleas, but sterilizes them, so eventually ( pretty quickly) you don’t have any fleas! But it’s only through your Vet and not all have it.
