How can I cover up my washer and dryer?
Our laundry “room” is actually just a closet. Originally it had bifold doors, but our new washer and dryer stick out of the closet so we had to remove the doors. I hung curtains across as a substitute for doors, but I’m wondering if anyone else has any ideas for covering up the washing machine and dryer when not in use.

I kind of like the curtains. Is it too loud without having a door of some kind? Maybe you could use a privacy screen or something decorative like that?
Hi Susan. Can you install barn doors that go on a track? You can mount the track on the outside of the closet.
You could build some barn doors or have them built! See ours here: https://www.aratariathome.com/blog/sliding-barn-doors
I don't know how much further the new appliances stick out, but you might just add some more framing boards to build out the closet 3 sides to accomodate the new washer/dryer.
Then if adding a barn door remember you will also have to build out the top where you intend to mount the track for the barn door ... could be a decorate piece of reclaimed wood. Otherwise you could mount the old bifold doors.
You are not alone ! I have the same problem, will be interested in all of the solutions forth coming , I do like your drapes !
I have the same issue also. Barn door etc won't work for me either. Neither will bi-fold doors.
Hello.

Thanks for all your suggestions, everyone!!
Doors to hide it and insulate the area. If you need the air to circulate use Louvre doors
You might be able to install sliding barn doors. You can use regular doors and get the sliding hardware at Home Depot.
The washer needs air to keep it fresh and prevent mold from forming, I can't really see which is the washer or dryer, but you should keep the gasket around the top or door clean and dry also the detergent load drawer.
For those reasons, I would go with something like a lighter airier curtain.
Hi Susan, you could put sliding barn doors here, or you could do a pull down type of roller blind, you can even reuse the old bifold doors with barndoor hardware.
