My friend did something rather unique. She had a long beaded necklace that she used to attach folded dollar bills to with clothes pins. It was the talk of her birthday party.

Start with a pot and branches that look like a tree frame. You might want to purchase the branches if you can't find something that is sturdy enough and the proper shape.

Place styrofoam in the base of the pot.

    Insert the branches in styrofoam.

You can add moss or stone on top of the styrofoam to make it look more realistic.

Now you are ready to add the money. Here are some options:

You can tie ribbons or strings on the branches and then tie the money to the other end of the string.

    Clothes pins on the branches.

You can do a topiary instead of a tree and use push pins to attach the money to the ball. Replace a round styrofoam ball for the branches.

You can also use a conical shape styrofoam for a Christmas tree style and attach money with push pins.

Look for a branch that has several smaller branchlets. 'Plant" in a bucket of sand and leave a box of clothes pins for the guests to attach the new leaves to it.

  • If you can get your hands on a manzanita branch, those always work well. You can spray paint to your desired color. Stick in a bucket of sand and place decorative rock on top. Easy, quick and inexpensive.
