    Hi there,

You can do it in Chalk Paint and use a wax sealer, or use a grey undercoat and gloss paint it!

Prep prior to painting by removing all hardware, doors and drawers. Wash down with TSP. Sand off sheen. For a rustic look use red chalk paint for a more finished look use red semi gloss oil or spray paint.

To add to Kelli's post, you can also paint the hardware. Scuff lightly with fine steel wool, clean with denatured alcohol, and spray paint. I love RustOleum's hammered paint for hardware.

the shinier the finish the more prep it needs, or nothing will stay. if it's shiny it needs stripped Citristrip gel works great , then clean well, dry thoroughly , primer with kilz, then multiple coats of good red paint, then sealer comes in satin, matte, gloss or high gloss here is some info. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNxxjXAI7-Y it'll be beautiful I just did some dining chairs in high gloss black they look like Chinese laquer if you use chalk paint https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNxxjXAI7-Y & there are 7 ways to seal it depending on how much use the piece gets and if you want to do it repeatedly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnMTAh2c0e0
