No, sand smooth and touch up with stain and varnish. Or if not bad use old English scratch cover. Works great.

Yes, I would also recommend lightly sanding the scrapes out. They should come out pretty easily! :)
Depending on your furniture color, and the depth of your defect-I find the Old English brown scratch repair oil to work wonders.
