I very seldom have a problem in my yard anymore since we got our Chow-Chow. We frequently see her prizes left for us on our patio. My son got me a teddy bear dog last year for Mother's day and the breeds she is used to be used to dig up and find things like mice, moles, voles, etc. She finds them, digs them up, and when they run our chow-chow catches them. It works for me!
Here's a great post to help you out.
