I did this 16 years ago. All family pieces or sentimental pieces I couldn't take with me were left with my brother, nephews, best friend, and goddaughter in Texas. I had a large garage sale too. Take furniture that has storage of some sort, shelves or drawers, chests at the end of your bed, those storage ottomans, etc. Keep only the small appliances you actually use. Thin out your clothes closet and linen closets. Collected over the years? take only your favorites. What art work or decor are you tired of? Kids pics from over the years? Remove them from the frames and scan or store in a box. What furniture is too big? Might have to buy new! Have fun and good luck...
