You need a decent pesticide:

Every morning and night fill a cup or bowl with water 1/2 way with water and 3 drops of dish soap. Using a stick or spoon knock them off into the soapy water. Keep it up until they are gone.
You have to treat the grubs, which turn into the beetles. We had them bad a few years ago- ruined our whole yard. We bought milky spore and applied it to the yard. The grubs came up out of the ground everywhere! It smelled like dead animals for a while. We then had to replant the yard.
It lasts a long time! My husband just reapplied it recently. Hope this helps!
Milky spore for next year. This year pick them off or get a net
It's really important to manage them not just when you see the damage they cause, but at all stages of their life. As Susan says, you need to manage the grubs. Here's a good pamphlet from the USDA which explains how to manage them: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/plant_health/plant_pest_info/jb/downloads/JBhandbook.pdf
