How do I replace a chain link fence and gates with wood?

I have a chain link fence and big gates that I would like to replace with wood fencing. Do I have to dig up the posts that are currently there? Ive looked at other conversions in my neighborhood and it looks like they are using a wider metal post. Maybe it fits over the one that's there?

I used the fence post from the chain length. Go to the plumbing department and buy pipe bracing that holds it to the wall. Buy at least 2 per post. I used that to hold the wood fence to the post. They are already cemented in the ground. This will save you money and time.

You may save expense by using carriage bolts to fasten 2x4s to the galvanized posts and then nailing up (anchoring) the wood fencing to them.
