yes - you will want to buy the extension pole so it hangs lower
Use a pole extender Home Depot sells one
First - rent a tall enough ladder from Home Depot to do the work.
Then you want to look at ceiling fans which can be mounted with a downrod. You need to keep in mind the width of the fan (our is a 60" diameter) and the length of the downrod. We returned a 36" downrod and opted for an 18".
Then its a matter of shutting off power to the outlet, setting up the ladder and installing the fan. We opted for one that has a remote so we could control fan speed and lights.
