DesertRose's examples are good. I used to make these when I was a wildlife researcher collecting my materials when I was out in the wild. I used florist foam rings, and very frequently I would look for interesting basket trays at the thrift stores or use round table mats made of natural materials.. If you're collecting your own material, be sure to kill off the bugs before you bring the materials inside. I hung all my materials from the garage rafters to dry in the dark hanging in bunches tied with twine on a nail. Just slip a bag over it, and spray some insect spray in it and tie or tape off.
