How can I decorate a large oval metal tray?
I have a large oval metal tray with 1+inch filigree rim. It is metal and I would love to use it on my large square coffee table. I'm not very artistic but can follow directions pretty well!

Is the tray in sad state that needs to be addressed or are you looking for ideas on how to stage the tray on your coffee table? A picture of the tray may help us give you a better answer.
I do decoupage and would recommend that. 1) it is easy to do 2) images are readily available from magazines, calendars, any kind of printed material. 3) it doesn't cost anything. All you need is something to be decorated, some Elmers glue, some small scissors like cuticle. Maybe some latex polyurethane and someplace to display your finished project. The only skill is cutting paper and a sense of design. Here are two trays, a wooden bed tray and a metal tray.
Hi, Sue!
A couple of coats of spray paint in your favorite color would be an easy and inexpensive way to change the look of the tray. I hope this helps!
You could spray paint it and perhaps use chalk or acrylic paint and a stencil to stencil it. There are some ideas here: http://paintandpattern.com/stencil-decorative-trays/
Paint and stencils are great for trays. You could also use decals to dress it up.
