compost your vegetable waste, egg shells, tea leaves, coffee grounds, even paper such as newsprint, in a compost pile or container. Gather fallen leaves, grass clippings...stir to add oxygen. If you like, you could try a worm bin.

I make our garden soil with 1/3 peat, 1/3 compost, and 1/3 vermiculite. I love it.
