Oil based products are the best for outdoor furniture.
Clean your furniture thoroughly then paint with an external wood garden furniture paint to preserve the furniture. We do ours yearly, not strictly necessary but it freshens the furniture up.

Definitely use exterior paint for the furniture and keep the color name, color card, etc. on hand for future use. I hope this helps!
