Ya put a couple pieces of bread in with it , leave it over night it will be softer in the morning
Yep, pieces of bread should do the trick.
Another way to soften hardened brown sugar is to 'pulse' it, smaller amounts at a time, in an electric food processor. It will be a little noisy at first until the chunks disintegrate, but it will give you finely ground soft sugar.
Moisten a paper towel and lay it over the top. You can let it sit for 2-3 days to soften, or if you need it right away, put it and the paper towel in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave it for 10-15 seconds at a time until its soft. The sugar will get hot, and you'll need to use it right away or it will re-harden.
If you add a piece of bread on top of the brown sugar inside the storage container it will help keep it soft. They also have ceramic disks / balls you soak in water and add in to keep it soft.

Any kitchen gadget store, on line, etc. I purchased a bunch at Mast General for $2 each and give as gifts.
You can put it in the microwave to soften it. To prevent it getting hard, https://www.hometalk.com/diy/organize/storage-ideas/fresh-brown-sugar-storage-28377114
