  • I love when people paint their front doors a fun color. It really is inviting and ads character to the entrance. Adding some plants on either side and a layering a welcome mat over a larger fabric mat looks cute as well. Then a fun welcoming sign would be a final touch. Depending on your space you could also add a chair or bench with a throw pillow.

I recently showed my readers how to decorate a front porch area no matter the size or what it looked like. These few items make the biggest difference: https://withinthegrove.com/renter-friendly-front-porch-decor/

If your home has no porch I suggest you decide on the path that leads to your door and start there. For instance, if upon arriving I walk up the path and then turn right (or left) to use the stairs then start your work at that turn. Create symmetry on the path just before the turn. An arbor with or without a gate would be permanent and look good all year long. It would give you an "new" entrance at ground level and will look lovely decorated for different holidays. On the sides of the arbor or gate you can plant a low hedge making a boundary that channels your guests to "enter here". On the back side of the arbor or gate use the same low hedge to define a space around the stairs, like a little room. You can put potted plants around on pavers and staff hooks to add seasonal color. Some solar twinkle lights could make it sweet.

If your guest arrive facing your door, just place the arbor or gate that way.
