How do I give a metal screen a rust finish?
I have a 3 panel metal screen I’d like to put a ‘new’ rust finish on. Ive looked at Modern Masters Metal Effects finish kits but they’re awfully expensive. Is there a cheaper way (besides letting it rust outside)?

Hi Katy, salt and rust colored spray paint will do the trick. We made a foam key and used salt to make it look like rust. You can find the tutorial here - https://acraftymix.com/blog/faux_metal_gaint_rustic_key/
I know they are sort of spendy, but the Modern Masters kits work really well. I used the Patina kit on some lamps and I LOVE them. A blogger friend of mine used the rust finish and she had great results. Just something to think about! Good luck.
This project used clear spray and cinnamon. Scroll down about 1/2 way and see what you think.
