    Sheri....Clean well, fill any imperfections if needed with wood putty, prime and paint. We did our basement wall in living room and still looks well several years later. Good luck!

    Clean and lightly sand the paneling- just enough to remove the shine. Prime and paint, or use a good 2-in-1. Consider multiple coats- it looks and holds up better. We love how painting our paneling brightened up the space:

    Make sure there s no oil on the panneling Use Kiltz it is a primer Let dry then Paint your color choice Let the grooves show through looks like bead and board. Did mine myself, and I am not a professional painter, but it still looks good 7 years later. I used a good (Sherwin awillians ) semi gloss paint I am very pleased with how easy it was and how well it has held up.
