Spray peppermint oil. They don't like it!
Never ever gonna happen. That's not how nature works. Best you can do is control or deter them. Fresh cedar blocks, bay leaves, lavender and anything in the mint family will deter them. I spray the perimeter of my property and base of my house with vinegar. That also works for fleas and ticks.

If you go the essential oil route, be careful as most are harmful to pets, especially birds.
It's almost impossible (I recall reading that we are never more than 3 feet from a spider, there are so many in the world!), but lavender and mint are my suggestions, as Naomi said. And don't accumulate clutter, though that is much easier said than done!
