re wash.
Hello, I’ve tried a few things for the same issue...... some knit clothing articles I left in the garage, I found 20 Mule team Borax in a load of laundry as directed work wonderfully to get rid of that musty odor, when other methods ( soaks in vinegar and oxiclean) failed.
Rewash and add vinegar to the rinse. You may have to rewash more than once. Air dry until you are sure the odor is gone. Sometimes soaking them first in Oxiclean helps. You will need to clean the washer too. Once it is empty, clean your gaskets, run a sanitary cycle if you machine has one (if nit, run a load of hot bleach water and then clean your gaskets again).
Hi, Stephanie!
I've done this before, and I feel your pain... I ran the clothes through a wash cycle with white vinegar and it worked! I hope this helps!
Easy, rewash them. Use baking soda and vinegar in the wash and vinegar in the rinse cup instead of fabric softener. A cup of white vinegar and a 1/4 cup of baking soda so do the trick.
