I have a nice white shaker kitchen with white appliances ( eventually they will all be SS). The countertop is laminate but also a black..floors are black. You get the idea. I love the modern farmhouse look with industrial mixed into it.I recently did a coffee bar with a black backsplash from tongue and groove material. Inexpensive and really stands out nicely from the all white cabinets. Not sure though if I should follow that same look on the rest of the kitchen. It's a small kitchen too but not galley. The walls , they are textured so not smooth and I can't put down wallpaper or just paint it. Ideas?

You could try stenciling it.
If you don't want to do tile, I would do bead board or vertical shiplap. Paint them white and let them be the background. Add in fun industrial accessories.
White tongue and groove, shiplap or black..or a color? Maybe a washed out white or grey...teal?
This may to silly but how about a vertical black and white stripe with possibly a third color even a silver to match those new appliances.
Tile or stainless steel sound like the way to go.
