Does the height of the kitchen backsplash need to be uniform?
I have 2 opposite facing walls in my kitchen. One w/upper cabinetry, one w/out. So my question is for cosmetic purposes only … does the subway tile backsplash I am going to install need to be the same height on each wall? On the wall w/upper cabinetry, I was planning on putting the backsplash all the way up to the bottom of the cabinetry! I was contemplating not going that high on the other wall (without cabinets) just for the sake of cost. Help, please, I'm a senior, on a fixed income and a DIY'er … need your advice!!!!!!

It's ok, do what you can afford. There are no set rules for backsplash height for walls with no cabinets. Work in odd numbered rows. Do 1 , 3 , or 5 .... Gives balance
It can go either way. My kitchen set up is the same. Just depends if you have the budget to take the tile to the ceiling, and / or do you like the look? Another option would be to install some open shelving on the blank side and set the lowest shelf at the same height as the cabinets, then run the backsplash up to the bottom of the shelf so they will be even and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Go high enough to protect from splashes. I love the look of open shelves and tile that goes all the way up the wall, but it isn't always feasible.
