How can I preserve my father's old Navy uniform?
My father passed away July 4, and I have his OLD Navy uniform. Shirt only which is long sleeved. Have his "pins" as well as a couple medals. Would LOVE to preserve & keep them. Any ideas as to what I could do??? Thank you & God Bless. All Is Well

So sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry your dad is gone I miss mine terribly......you can buy special boxes that are acid free for preservation.Store folded textiles with as few folds and creases as possible. Use acid-free boxes with acid-free tissue or clean white bed sheets with acid free paper over them tucked in the folds to prevent sharp creases. https://www.containerstore.com/organization-projects/closet/tip/archival-clothing-storage THE pins/ribbons...... Before handling medals, put on gloves. The dirt and oils on human hands can cause oxidation of the metal and cause damage to the metals over time. Military medalsshould be cleaned with a dry, soft brush. Wrap each medal with acid free tissue paper and store in an acid free box lined with acid free tissue paper. good info. https://abundantgenealogy.com/archive-lady-preserving-military-uniforms-medals/
Maybe get a nice shadow box and you can display the box with the shirt folded in it and the pins as well.
I agree with the shadow box idea folded so the medals are showing so you can display them.
Michaels has great shadow boxes for all types of things!
