How can I give my kitchen cabinets a farmhouse look?
Any ideas on how to redo my kitchen cabinets? I like a farmhouse look. As you can see if you zoom in some of the wood is splitting on the cabinets. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I painted my cabinets a lovely medium gray color. I used an acrylic latex paint in an enamel finish! I added black farm house style hardware. After 5 years my cabinets still look great! I also used ship lap on one wall and for backsplash in most of my kitchen. I decorated with all things farmhouse: signs, wire baskets, metal roosters, canning jars, black and white buffalo check valances, and all white pottery in my hutches! It is fun to decorate in farmhouse style! Here is some inspiration for you!

Farmhouse uses a lot of whites and gray colors. So you could paint the cabinets white or gray. Then add some different hardware to the drawers and cabinet. You could also add some farmhouse looking wood signs to help bring the farmhouse look in.
Trim around each door with a large x in the middle like barn doors.

Try to get some carpenter's wood glue, like Titebond, behind the wood where it is splitting. You might have to pry the pieces out a little to get enough glue back there. Then clamp it overnight, fill if necessary and sand it smooth. While you are at it you could turn the handles vertical on the lower cabinets.
I think white or off white on the cabinets and the back splash to lighten it all up would look best.
I'd also like to paint mine but they aren't real wood a d seem to feel like a plastic esq finish is laminated over the top. What painting method would work best?
