The wallpaper on the corner of a wall in my house is starting to peel off. Any advice about the best way to glue it back?
Use a scoring tool that you can use in circular motions. This will score the wallpaper and cut it into tiny little holes all over. Then you get a wallpaper dissolvant liquid that gets smeared on top of all the holes so that it soaks in. All of this is at Home Depot. Then peel off the paper. If it still doesn't peel off well, you might want to think about renting a wallpaper steamer. Beware, they are very messy which is why I really like the score tool and the spray. If for some reason when it peels off, it is also taking drywall off along with it, this means that the wallpaper was put on right on top of the drywall without a coat of primer. you will have to spackle again and sand in those spots where it tore off drywall. Good luck! Removing wallpaper is not one of my favorite things. ahhh...!
It is a difficult job. Removing from plaster walls is easier. But I would follow above advice or maybe go right to steamer which is what ultimately worked for us. (and if paper is painted it is much more difficult!)
Hi Valerie,
Before you start with the above advice, check to see if your wallpaper is removable. The wallpaper in our house was removable and all I had to do was pull a corner and the rest peeled right off. This was good, heavy wallpaper so if your's is thin, it's probably not removable so follow K. Rupp's instruction. Wishing you the best.
