Have you tried Goo Gone?
Invest in some good scrapers, and if the Goo Gone doesn't work, try Goof Off. It smells, but works.
You might have to sand it off .... or you can try a heat gun and scraper.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAQm4zie3kM

Thank you, that's what I ended up doing the sander. Thanks again
I’m super late so this won’t be helpful to you at this point but, my husband and I have been searching for this answer as well and we incidentally discovered that MURPHYS OIL SOAP, out of all things, worked the best to get the carpet glue up. We used Murphy’s Oil, water as hot as we could get it, and a scraper and a scrubbie. Let it sit a few minutes to break down that glue and it scraped right off. Who’da thunk??
i WENT THRU MY KITCHEN, CLEANING SUPPLIES AND i ALSO TRIED MURPHYS OIL SOAP AND YAHOO. BUT THANKS FOR THE ANSWER. THIS SHOULD HELP OTHERS THAT HAVE THE PROBLEM. THANKS AGAIN.
