If I wanted to hide my thermostat, I would hang a 3 dimensional frame over it (even backwards if need be) and mod podge a pretty picture over the back (which would be the front now) with something to match my decor.
Am I wrong that a thermostat works by the air temperature around it? I was told never to have anything hot or cold around the thermostat...Could be wrong but If you cover it, I would think you would have to have some way for the air to get to it. Maybe I am wrong?
Don't hide it completely but you can distract from it. Add decor so that it isn't noticeable. I love this project:
