The best method I have learned recently and works well is to pack the full set (bed-sheet, duvet cover, pillowcases) in a pillowcase of the set

My sister in law did as Otilia suggests but I collect linens and don't necessarily use pillow cases that match sheets. We have very big linen closet and a small family so that helps. It really depends on how busy your life is and how much storage space you have. Also how many beds and who makes them up. In our case one shelf is for queen siZed sheets, one for double sized sheets, single sheets we store in the attic where we also have five single beds. Duvet covers go on the top shelf of our linen closet and pillowcases are in very shallow basket on another shelf. If you do this it would be nice to label the shelves but I haven't done that yet.

I fold the fitted to about 1/4 size, then the flat to 1/4 size and lay them together. I fold my pillowcases in 1/2 and lay on top of sheets. Then fold the set down to the size I want. Sets are stored in the bedroom where they will be used.

Another option is to put sheets & pillowcase inside 1 of the pillowcases.

I try to color coordinate my linen shelves. On one shelf I fold the fitted (ugh) and flat sheets Then on the above shelf I put the matching pillow cases. I do the same thing with my shirts, dresses and pants in my closet.
