Hi ! I know this might sound weird but get a carpet cleaner called Folex ! I found it at home depot for around $6 . This stuff gets out everything !!! Ink , wine , and grease , even dried paint ! I keep some in a spray bottle in my laundry room ! Good luck !!!

Hi Pamela, Thanks but I am in South Africa - no Home Depot here. I will check if any of our stores stock it.

I had the same heartbreaking problem on a mustard colored Coach bag.

I removed all the ink I could using all the various suggestions hairspray, nailpoish remover, hairspray. Ink residue still remained- then Sanded it very slightly-painted it with acrylic paints after.

Used a wax sealer on top and the ink scribbles are gone!

I have also used the acrylics to touch up edge binding wear from use/ scuffs, would not suggest glossy varieties.

    Hope this helps.
