Pretty Pink Highboy Dresser
Hi, Mary!
As mentioned, paint is a great option and if the dresser is real wood, maybe consider refinishing it as well as maybe spray painting the hardware. I hope this helps!
The first option I think of when refurbishing furniture -might be chalk paint.
Have one in my garage that used to be part of my parents bedroom suite. I stripped it with Citristrip (real wood was used back then, this is from the 50's) and have tested several stain colors, yet also considering painting. I need low maintenance and easy to clean, so for me painting looks like the way to go. Options are only limited by your imagination. What do you have in mind?
You can stain a darker color or paint by removing any top coat/finish, clean, and proceed. Mineral spirits or steel wool to remove top coat. Then denatured alcohol to clean. Stain and seal or prime and paint. If you want to go lighter, you will have to sand the finish off. You can also paint the hardware with RustOleum spray paint or replace the hardware.
