Plain white! Help!!
Can you help me make over my fireplace?
Here is my fireplace. My rooms are decorated in black and white buffalo plaid and grays mostly. The front door is burgundy. I would love suggestions on how to paint the fireplace surroundings.

I would leave it white and add farmhouse decor items since you are using the buffalo plaid.
I agree. I'd leave the fireplace surround as is and paint the wall your favorite accent color. If you choose a darker color then accent with white pieces on the mantle.
I would go to Amazon and buy stick on tiles any color to contrast with the white.Like some type of pattern with 2 different colors.Would bring out the whole room. They are so easy to apply and you can change it up if you like after a while..
The millwork details on the fireplace are quite nice, but they do not show up because there is no contrast. Right now, the fireplace just fades away into the wall. Creating contrast would inject life to the area, and would feature the unit.
Either paint the wall a darker color, and keep the fireplace white, or, keep the wall a light color, and paint the fireplace surround and mantel a darker color.

I would leave the way it is, Buffalo check pattern goes beautifully with white...But if you are looking for change paint it black :)
I love adding holiday/seasonal décor on my fireplace mantle. Pictures/signs are sometimes the best way to center that theme then build off of that! This is a stock photo from Chalk Couture- I am an independent designer with the company and it helps me decorate my home, etc. @chalkwithmia
Re: above comment:
It will be very hard to get 'stick on tiles' to stay in place on the face of this fireplace surround, due to the numerous bevels and ledges.
