I have my sewing tools and supplies in clear containers with labels so I can see what is in them. They are stored in a large armoire in the room. It works out well. The only thing I don't have a handle on is the fabric! Good luck.
Store spools of thread on pants hangers that have 6 or 8 horizontal bars on each one; each bar has to be able to hook to the frame, but also unhook & swivel out to put thread on.
Sandy....I have a friend that has a sewing shop and she has done a great job. Her husband is retired and has made her all these simple cabinets with shelves...some have doors but she keeps them open and displays everything by colors. She also uses large baskets on tables or floor with thread or bundles of quilt squares. It reminds me of entering a sewing mercantile that the Waltons would visit when they would go to town. In the back room she has sewing machines where she can help people if they have questions plus she makes quilts to sale. She also has a display of quilts hanging as well as in cabinets. It's a sight to see and you always feel welcome when you walk in. Good luck in your endeavor!
