How can I replace my sliding glass doors with something else?
To keep my cats out of my living room, years ago, I installed sliding glass doors. I am not happy with the lack of air flow and want to re-visit this issue. I have considered building a "barn door" out of white vinyl lattice but I think it would look cheesy in my living room. I have also considered a 3x6 sheet of metal that has been laser cut into a decorative design. I need to be able to keep functioning doors here, but I need them to allow maximum air flow. Any suggestions? Whatever material considered has to be strong enough to withstand a cat trying to climb it. :)

My initial thought would be a barn door type with a solid bottom and a chicken wire or metal grate on the top half for light and airflow. Or my second thought would be to install a Dutch door, and may need to be custom fabricated depending upon how wide the opening is.

What about simple louvred bi-fold doors? you COULD remove the louvreS and replace with a nice metal grid.....or have made a pretty wrought iron door for your opening..it could be painted any color you like..make sure your cats can’t go through the decorative openings or bars... yes, they CAN do that!
