Start by thoroughly cleaning the bricks using a brush and warm, soapy water followed by a rinse of clear water (use a wet/dry vac to remove any puddles). Once the brick is thoroughly dry, it can be painted using an exterior paint in your choice of color. I hope this helps!

I highly recommend NOT using paint. Instead, use masonry STAIN. The paint will peel regardless of the amount of care and prep work you do because the brick is porous and breathes while the paint does not. Stain is designed to accommodate the porous nature of the brick and will last for years.
