How to dye clothes at home:

I like the liquid Rit dye. They have excellent directions.
Rit Dye is probably the most popular dye, it comes in 2 formulas - the newest is the Dye More formula for synthetic fabrics/yarns. Rit Dye requires a high temperature water, so if the poncho would shrink it might not be a good match. Rit has a great color formula page on their website.... https://www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/ all their directions are on this website on how to use their dyes.
They also make cold water dyes, I've used Procion dyes on natural fabrics that I order on Amazon.
My favorite method is stove top but you can also do it in the washing machine if you have one that isn't self-leveling. Rit dye has all the directions on the back so it's beginner friendly.
